Funded by SSHRC, this three-year project asks whether the increasing prevalence of digital sound technologies marks a fundamental shift in modern sound culture, and if so, what is the nature of that shift? Through studying the design, use and circulation of digital audio technologies, this project will develop a synthetic account of digital sound that addresses the particular relationship between digital media and contemporary sound culture.
