Registration for the Participatory Open Online Course (POOC) will beginning on Tuesday September 24th, 2013. The POOC is a non-credited online course that will run from October 15 to December 6, 2013. The POOC will interrogate a range of questions pertaining to the history, problems and possibilities of participatory media in contemporary society. It will focus on such aspects of mediated participation as the predicament of participation, surveillance, gaming, public and participation, among other themes. The POOC complements Media@McGill’s international colloquium on The Participatory Condition [http://www.pcond.ca] that will take place in Montreal on November 15th and 16th, 2013. The colloquium will bring together such prominent contemporary media scholars as Katherine Hayles, Bernard Stiegler, Marc Andrejevic, among others. All participants who register for the POOC are invited to learn, share, collaborate and create knowledge using the POOC’s digital platform.
